A Catalan Christmas Carol from 16th or 17th Century Spain. Performed upon my Hohner musette accordion, a 4/5 reed instrument in LMMM configuration. The sheet music is from "Wee Sing for Christmas," collected and arranged by Pamela Conn Beall and Susan Hagen Nipp, published by Price Stern Sloan.
Many choral groups like to include this Catalan Christmas Carol in their Holiday concerts, for the rhythm and the melody seem to radiate special spirit in a delightful manner. I believe that both the Sonoran Desert Chorale and the Phoenix Chorale (formerly the Phoenix Bach Choir) have performed this song locally in their annual December concerts. The accordion is capable of imparting some neat and lively textures on the treble keyboard, blending in with the robust qualities of the rhythmic bass section on the left hand.
